What Makes Fort Smith Different
Fort Smith sits where the Poteau River meets the Arkansas River, right on the Oklahoma line. In the spring of 2019, the Arkansas River rose to record levels and flooded homes and businesses in Fort Smith, Van Buren and other river towns. Floodwater from a river is always contaminated, so soaked drywall, insulation and carpet should come out rather than be dried in place. A standard homeowners policy does not cover flood.
