What Makes Baltimore Different
Baltimore is a city of rowhouses, and many were built long before 1950. Lead paint is common on windows, doors, trim and porches, and water damage makes it worse because wet paint peels and flakes. Checking a License in Baltimore
Maryland requires a license from the Maryland Home Improvement Commission for most work on an existing home. Ask for the license number and look it up with the state before you sign. If a job disturbs paint in a home built before 1978, ask whether the crew is certified for lead safe work under the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting rule. Maryland has no separate mold license, so ask whether the technicians hold industry certification in water damage and mold remediation, and ask for proof of liability and workers compensation insurance.
