Terre Haute grew up on the Wabash River, and the river still rises after long spring rains and snowmelt. Low ground near the river and the creeks that feed it can flood, and floodwater from outside is always contaminated. A standard homeowners policy does not cover it, so check your flood risk and consider a separate flood policy.
