In Their Own Words

In 2007 brothers Bob Cates and Jon Cates started Advanced DKI with a push mower and a borrowed pick up truck from their father. Due to the misfortune of corporate downsizing the brothers saw a need and pursued their quest. What started with a push mower and the borrowed truck has grown to one of the top 500 contractors in the country as stated in the August 2014 issue of Qualified Contractor , a national publication servicing contractors. Today, Advanced DKI is a General Contracting firm that completes a full list of repairs and environmental remediation. The company has recently been acknowledged as a National Veteran Owned Business Association (NoVOBA) due to president Bob Cates's service in the United States Marine Corps.

1. Do you take moisture readings every day and will you give me the drying log?
2. Are your technicians certified in water damage restoration?
3. Where do you think the moisture is coming from, and who fixes it?
4. Will you set up containment and negative air, and how will you protect the rest of the home?
5. Do you also do remediation? If so, who checks your work?

Missouri has no statewide general contractor license, so check with your city or county, and in Illinois ask a roofer for a state roofing license. Also ask for proof of insurance and industry certification for the restoration crew.
