Naples is low and flat, with the Gulf on one side and wetlands on the other. Hurricane Ian in 2022 pushed several feet of storm surge into Naples, flooding homes, garages and streets well back from the beach. In 2017, Hurricane Irma came ashore at Marco Island. Surge here can reach far past the first row of homes.
