What Makes Gulfport and Biloxi Different
The Mississippi Gulf Coast has faced some of the worst hurricanes in the country. Hurricane Camille in 1969 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 pushed storm surge deep into Gulfport, Biloxi, Pass Christian and the towns around the bay. Storm surge is floodwater, and it is always contaminated. A standard homeowners policy does not cover flood, so flood insurance is a separate policy worth having here.
Heat and humidity make mold move quickly. Wet drywall and carpet pad can grow mold within 24 to 48 hours, so drying has to start fast. Air conditioners run most of the year, and a clogged condensate line can drip into a ceiling without anyone noticing.
