Findlay lies along the Blanchard River in flat farm country that was once part of the Great Black Swamp. The land drains slowly, so a few days of heavy rain can push the river into downtown streets and nearby homes. The flood of August 2007 was one of the worst in the city’s history, and the river has left its banks many times since.
